Dear parents,
It can’t be ignored any longer - family has become an important topic - in local and national politics, in the media, in companies, societies, clubs and in people's minds. There’s plenty of discussion, but things are happening too - all-day schools and more childcare places for young children are springing up and more help for disadvantaged boys and girls is coming to the fore.

- “We’ve made a start. And we’re staying on the ball.” - Bettina Peetz, JAKO-O management
We’ve made a start and we’re going to stay on the ball when it comes to the interests of parents and children! Because there is plenty of room for improvement - in schools and nurseries, for example or in social security - parents have to pay nearly as much as non-parents, but by investing in our children, we’re already making a big contribution to securing the future!
It was only at the first JAKO-O Families Congress 2003 that we realised just how much families are disadvantaged and abandoned in many respects. So we took action to improve the situation, with your help, with lots of different activities. We can achieve a lot if we all have a common goal!
Local alliances for families are a successful example for more family-friendliness on a small scale. We think it’s a great idea and we’ve been using our catalogues to encourage people to get involved right from the start. We’re especially pleased that the HABA family of companies’ hosts were able to be there at the establishment of the 400th local alliance at our company headquarters in Bad Rodach.
But there’s still so much to do. We want people to want to have children and to want to live with children. We want families to get the socio-political recognition that they deserve. We want parents to confidently exercise their rights so that they can enjoy bringing up their children the right way.
Yours sincerely,
For knowledge-hungry parents, we hold the JAKO-O Familiy congress every 2 years. Two days full of practical know-how and background knowledge for mums and dads.
