Safety first!
Quality control and development
Our children’s health and care of the environment determine everything we do. That’s why disposable products aren’t the future for us. Good children’s products simply have to be “suitable”!
That is why we, as a medium-sized enterprise, are committed to Standort Deutschland (Germany as an industrial location). Around 500 employees work in the production of wooden furniture and toys in the HABA family of companies, to which JAKO-O also belongs. Where possible, we also look for suppliers that, like us, promote Germany as an industrial location and place high demands on the quality of their goods.
We have an Öko-Tex certificate on the end product for nearly all of our clothing items. It is also important for us that many of our products even meet the strictest requirements of product class 1 for baby products. For items that don’t have this certificate, we request harmful substances audits that demonstrate that contents do not exceed the limit values set forth by the Öko-Tex standard. It goes without saying that we look at the goods closely as soon as they arrive and check proof that legal safety criteria and social standards have been maintained. For products that are made exclusively for JAKO-O, an independent laboratory checks whether the materials meet the legally applicable guidelines here in Germany, before they even go into production.
In other words, like any reputable company, we strive to make our products as safe as possible. However, there is one important thing we have to say - Nobody can ever guarantee absolute safety. We are all responsible for ourselves and our loved ones: Laws cannot replace good old common sense!
Fashion quality assurance
One of the roles of fashion quality assurance is creating measurement tables with detailed sketches and manufacturing guidelines for each style, in close cooperation with the collection developers and suppliers. After all, every child should feel comfortable in JAKO-O clothes and each item should be practical. We get lots of useful tips for this from the mums in our company.
If the fit samples come to us from all over the world, we examine the goods closely and check dimensions and manufacturing. Is the stitching OK? Is everything where it should be? Are the labels and care information correct? Have the strict JAKO-O quality standards been met? Even buttons and zip fastenings are checked. Wash tests are used to make sure that clothes are colour fast. We keep checking the fit of the clothes, both on mannequins and “real live” children until everything fits perfectly.
We keep monitoring the items even after the catalogue has appeared and we check suggestions and information from our customers and take them into consideration for our deliveries.
